Whole-Body Cryotherapy
Why would I use it?
In addition, through regular use, whole-body cryotherapy has recently been found to turn indolent white fat cells in to calorie-burning brown cells in a process called browning or beiging. This offers a very promising way to boost metabolism and reduce fat. These effects are felt throughout the body, not just peripherally, so the benefits are profound. Conditions include:

What is it?
![]() Please note: Our 2-person cryotherapy chamber is truly whole-body, unlike nitrogen chambers that only cool you from the chest down. This gives a very different sensation, with more widespread, far-reaching benefits.
What happens during a whole-body cryotherapy session?
After your assessment, you will be shown to the changing rooms. After you have changed into your swimwear or down to your underwear and donned your robe or towel, you will be handed a pairs of gloves, socks and Crocs as well as a headband or beanie hat and face mask which you will be shown how to wear for maximum protection. We will then ask you the all-important question: "Which tune would you like played during your session?"
It will feel cold! But it's not uncomfortable like an ice water plunge. You can move around the chamber or keep still; it's up to you. At any time, you can indicate to our member of staff that you wish to end the session or you can simply exit the chamber yourself by pushing the door open and stepping out. The chamber will automatically inform you when three minutes is up, at which point our member of staff will open the door and ask you to step out. We will then measure your skin temperature again to determine the difference from the start and thus the effectiveness of the treatment. We then recommend that you remove your gloves, socks, hat etc. and retreat to the sauna for at least twenty minutes.
After your session we will recommend that you spend at least 30-minutes in the guests' lounge partaking in light refreshments and relaxing before you leave.
Do I need to do anything before the session?
![]() Although we have robes and towels for you here, you are of course welcome to bring your own. If you are going to become a regular, we recommend the purchase of your own beanie hat/headband, gloves, socks and Crocks for the sole purpose of whole-body cryotherapy sessions.
What are the risks?
Whole body cryotherapy is very safe; it's not like jumping into an ice bath. But there are a few risks, the main one being frostbite if you stay in too long. A more comprehensive set of known risks will be provided during your initial clinical assessment.
