What is it?
What happens during an infrared sauna session?
The best way to enjoy the session is to don swimwear or very light gym wear. Before your first session, we will show you how to use the sauna's in-built wellness programme settings. After that, you will be left to relax. Within minutes, your body's natural response to the infrared will begin with small beads of sweat appearing on your skin. Your blood vessels will widen increasing the blood flow as your heart rate gradually increases, thereby mimicking exercise!
Do I need to do anything before the session?
You will probably have just completed a whole-body cryotherapy session, so you should be ready to go straight in. Please do not take mobile phones or tablet PCs into the sauna - just take yourself.
What are the risks?
Infrared saunas are very safe, but there are some dangers that primarily involve overheating and dehydration that could lead to dizziness or fainting, especially for older adults, and those on certain medications (beta-blockers, diuretics). Other risks include blood pressure drops, skin irritation, and potential high electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure, though benefits usually outweigh the risks.
